Distorted Reflection.
Antonio Gutierrez - NEED TO SHOW EXAMPLES OF HIS WORK
INTRODUCE THIS TASK AND ITS AIMS.
Antonio Gutierrez Pereirez is an abstract photographer whose work varies from distorted reflection to portraits and a few landscapes. Furthermore, his reflections using mirrors and distortion are great inspiration for me and will develop these ideas to distort my subject's face without the need of photoshop.

For these reflections we were required to find objects that reflected a portrait in a distorted way.
WWW: The correct exposure were used in all these photos as well as some interesting ideas of reflections
EBI: There were more photos of other people and varied distortions of reflections.

Development
WAS THIS A BETTER SHOOT THAN THE FIRST? IF SO, EXPLAIN AND IF NOT, ALSO EXPLAIN PLEASE. DID YOU SET OUT TO ACHIEVE YOUR AIMS? INCLUDE WWW AND EBI PLEASE.
WWW: In these photos, there was generally better exposures used and they were all in focus. This shoot also took into account more variations of reflection. This shoot was an improvement from last time because the lighting and general exposure was bettered the were wider examples of distorted reflection with different objects such as the glass jar and the squared mirror.
EBI: If I used different apertures and different glass jars for other distortions.

Reflection In Mirrors
Sebastian Magnani
Born 1985 in a small village in Canton Valais, Switzerland, surrounded by mountains, Sebastian Magnani discovered photography whilst training as a media designer in 2006. After 5 years as a creative in an advertising agency, he decided 2011 to turn his passion into a profession. Since then he has been making a living as a photographer, based in Zurich Switzerland.
Magnani's work comprises mainly of portraits, still lives and reflections in mirrors, and of course his numerous commissions like the BBC, Levis and Converse. However, for this project we are focusing on his reflections and how they present the juxtaposition between the ground in the backdrop and the sky above, or nature.

YOU'VE SHOT SOME STRONGLY COMPOSED IMAGES. INCLUDE WWW AND EBI HERE.

Reflection of Colour
Theo Simpson
Simpson creates his work through the medium of metals, adding a rough, industrial feel to the sharp, man- made structure displayed as a genius work of art.
"The work is a response to a changing landscape. The nature of this response is not to create representations of space, but to embody the systems and processes that bring landscapes into being. Individual pieces can be compared to mechanical or industrial systems in miniature – sites where multiple ideas converge and surface, where materials, actions, and techniques combine in interlocking arrangements."-Theo Simpson

Tom Hussey
" Reflections of the Past" is an intricately crafted photo series that shows elderly people pensively staring into the mirror at their younger selves, reminiscing on their past experiences. Hussey's inspirations was drawn from a WW2 veteran who commented, "I can't believe I'm going to be 80. I feel like I just came back from the war. I look in the mirror and see this old guy." This statement is resonant with all who took I the mirror and see a different person staring back at them.
In class, we employed his photography technique to inspire our themed Halloween shoots.
WWW: The effect was successfully created by placing the tripod in the same place and snapping the subject multiple times and complaining them in photoshop post shoot. The images were in line and were the correct exposure.
EBI: We took more photos and experimented more with this technique.

This process is relatively simple and quick to do. First you take both photos into photoshop, and select which one you want to put over the other. Then press 'command a' to select the image, 'command c' to copy, and finally 'command v' to pasties over the other. After that, you select the eraser tool and erase the sections of the image which you want to show through. Ensure that pre edit in the shoot process that the two photos are in exactly the same frame to make the photoshop process faster.
Reflection- The Strands
Saul Leiter- Reflection through a telephoto lens
Saul Leiter (1923-2013) was born in Pittsburgh and originally pursued painting and art as his career. However, after befriending the Abstract Expressionist painter Richard Pousette-Dart his interest slowly turned to black and white photography, and later colour photography. In these photos, he has taken them from afar so he can really zoom in on what the subjects are doing without disturbing them, and by using a higher aperture Letter is able to blur the windows in the foreground or the background and use the condensation to his advantage. This technique would be particularly interesting to shoot with as you could see two objects at a contrasting distance with either the foreground or the background in focus and blurred.
Cindy Sherman- Reflection of Inner Personalities
Cynthia Morris Sherman born January 19 1954 is an American photographer/artist whose work consists of photographic self portraits depicting herself in many contexts and many imagined scenarios. Sherman's ability to change her appearance is particularly noticeable as her breakthrough work is considered to be "Complete Untitled Film Stills", a series of 70 black and white photographs depicting herself in many of the roles of women in performance media.
My 1st Response
For this shoot I drew on previous artist's work Tom Hussey as well as Sherman's idea of inner personality, by using a mirror and then editing the photos together post shoot in photoshop. I thought this would be a good representation of the subject's inner personality.
WWW: These images reflected a range of inner personalities and reflections of the subject and utilised several photoshop techniques like layering, and Tom Hussey's technique.
EBI: If I included different aspects of inner reflections.
EBI: If I included different aspects of inner reflections.
2nd Response
For this development I decided to work outside and with a flash to get a different, more harsh kind of lighting. I think this brought out the subject's inner personality more than the previous shoot.
Anthony Cassell- Reflection of Light
Anthony Cassel does a range of photography including stylised portraits. for one of his works Cassel looked at the effect screens have on kids in the modern day.
Playground of Tomorrow: "Less than 1 in 10 children play outside in today’s society and these images show children sitting in the dark, their faces reflecting the light from different electronic devices like iPad's, phones and TV monitor. Children of today are known as ‘Digital Natives’ therefore their way of playing is isolated in a virtual world. Could this be the definition of contemporary youth or the Playground of tomorrow?"- Anthony Cassell

For my first development I tried to replicate Cassel's work by using a similar technique. However for later shoots I tried to subvert the original ideas and create my own interpretation of reflection of light.
My 1st Response
Creating a Contact Sheet:
WWW: The darkness surrounding the subject represents the isolation caused by using screens- this gives the same effect as Anthony Cassel's photos. An online world is an isolated world when everyone is using their screens in the darkness, alone.
EBI: If I incorporated mirrors into the photos as well to draw and the main reflection theme (the less abstract theme).

2nd Response
WWW: This was a more abstract response to the theme and incorporated different lighting and a different location.
EBI: If the subject was in a more steady position so the photos didn't blur, and for the tripod to be in a more stable position. Also, if the lighting was more even throughout the pictures.

3rd Response
Fourth Response
For my final piece I decided to crate a set of nine images, including three original photos and six edits. After tweaking the originals for exposure and contrast in photoshop I then edited them into two other colours and therefore created these nine images. The original lighting used was the light from a phone screen.
Final Reflection Outcomes
Jai - describe the work of Antonio Guttierez. Give your opinions about it and say how his work will influence yours.
Introduce every shoot with your aims/intentions.
Show all your Photoshop edits using screenshots.
Discuss the aims of your developments.
Once you've made the requested red corrections/changes to your work, please change my comments to green.
Add your paper reflections to your Weebly. Crop them and possibly change their colour, so you have multiple compositions and then rearrange them. Then, evaluate the project.
Edit the final pieces of your Cindy Sherman inspired pieces that take place in the mirror. The colours are a little off and you can also crop some of them.
As we spoke about this - I'd like you to do another shoot leading up to some other final pieces where you may employ some of the same lighting techniques but where you have your subject placed in different positions, ensuring there is a bit more light on the subject's face or possibly using another subject. Right now, these do not feel like completely final pieces.
