Maia Flores
Maia Flore currently living and working in Paris, was born in 1988 in France where she graduated from Ecole des Gobelins in 2010. Her work takes the approach of a selection of coincidences between reality and imagination which is reflected in her world of touching and enchanting narratives that draws the viewer in. Maia Flore's photographs can be considered surrealist and this is why I think I can effectively create my own world of photos that merge reality and my imagination. Her series "Sleep Elevations" is particularly prominent because the edited final results show the subject asleep but floating above a completely different landscape being held up by a random object.
Good start, Jai. What inspired her to make the below work? How does she produce it? What do you like about this work and why?

These images are quite abstract and I will aim to create a similar feel by taking the subject from interesting angles and different lightings.
Jai, did you produce a shoot here? If so, please explain your shoot intentions and then upload a contact sheet. You must shoot a minimum of 24 images per shoot.

Sally Mann
Sally Mann, born in Lexington, Virginia in 1951 is one of America's most renowned photographers and is well known for her numerous works like her Book "At Twelve" which features intimate and unsettling photos of her children and different people.
Mann is known for her photographs of thought provoking and disquieting subjects of people and landscapes that each have an eerie feel about them.

These images are particularly disquieting because not only are they in black and white, there feels like there is a missing piece to each of them and therefore links to the overall theme of broken. Landscapes in this style are very interesting as the contrast is so extreme the light patches really stand out and draw the viewer's eye in.
Please introduce the shoot below and state your intentions. Where were these images shot? Do you have a contact sheet? If so, upload it here.

For these images I simply edited them post shoot in photoshop to black and white for the same effect as Sally Mann's photos. I also increased the contrast as this is similar to Mann's style.
Some of your black and white images are quite evocative. Evaluate your final images - www and ebi.

Debrah Turbeville
Sophie Calle
Sophie Calle was born in 1953 in Paris, France and has exhibited widely since the 1970s. Calle's style is immediately obvious as she frequently combines her images with text.
Deborah Turbeville
Deborah Lou Turbeville (1932-2013) was an American photographer whose career started to really kick off when she photographed for Vogue magazine and presented the models in the most macabre and ominous way possible, which at the time was heavily criticised. However, now Turbeville is known as the woman who single handedly changed the way we view women's fashion photography. It could be compared to men's photographs of women which are highly saturated and sexual where Turbeville's are almost haunting.
Jai, you've fallen quite behind - Before the pandemic struck London, you were meant to have completed 3 projects and then, selected your favourite one to move ahead with and produce two more shoots from. I know this is a difficult time for everyone but we will need to submit Teachers' Assessment - that will be in addition to Coursework so if you stop all of your work on your exam project, your coursework grade will go down. Please go back and re-focus on your Photography, in order to get the best grade possible. It will be a good distraction for you during this unprecedented time away from school, physically. You are really capable of doing well, keep going!
